The Rite Journey seeks to empower your child to be a courageous and responsible adult who displays the traits of courage, collaboration, consideration, compassion, commitment and connection.

The Rite Journey

At Champagnat Campus, we recognise the importance of each individual student’s personal development. The Rite Journey is a unique educational program designed to support the development of self-aware, responsible, respectful and resilient adults. The year-long program is delivered to our Year 9 students in single sex classes, where students, with the support and guidance of a mentor teacher engage in conversations and activities to explore who they really are and what type of adult they want to be. The Rite Journey gives students an opportunity to reflect, discuss and develop strategies about their transition to adulthood through conversation, debates, challenges, camp, self reflection, journal keeping, and service to others.

The Rite Journey has four main themes that will be explored across the year each term is guided by a different theme:

  • Term 1 –Who am I really?
  • Term 2 –How do I get on with others?
  • Term 3- Is there something more?
  • Term 4 – What do I have to give?

The program recognises that ceremonies and rituals have been used to mark this special time in a young person’s life for thousands of years, and uses these rites of passage to deepen student thinking as they make the transition into becoming responsible young adults.

  • In Rite Journey have really found that I am so much more grateful for my parents after all the reflecting we have done in class and for all the opportunities they give me in my school, sport and life.
  • I have learnt that I can mentally overcome anything I want, as long as I put my mind to it.
  • My greatest learning about myself this year has been in the solo time. I learnt that I can love my own company.
  • Camp was so much fun, I loved the time away from my normal life, kayaking and caving were the best activities and solo night was amazing sleeping under the stars in the bush. The memories of chatting with my friends around the camp fire will stay with me forever.
  • I’ve found it interesting learning about how I strive to learn new things when opportunities present themselves. I can step up to do things that others often do not want to do.
