Positive education
Student wellbeing
At Sacred Heart we have introduced Positive Education to students and staff as a proactive approach to wellbeing and care of our community.
Student wellbeing
Student Wellbeing at Sacred Heart is based in a deeply held belief in the dignity of the individual. Recognition of the interconnectedness of learning and wellbeing, is central to student life at Sacred Heart . We seek to educate and care for the whole person, striving to develop well rounded students with a deep understanding of self, their connection to the world around them and an openness to God’s presence in our world.
Guided by our Marist Family Spirit we encourage our students to engage with others with kindness, empathy and a generous heart.
Living and Learning Framework
Sacred Heart College is committed to providing a broad and meaningful curriculum designed to promote a love of learning and educate the whole person, enabling the spiritual, intellectual, cultural, physical and social development of emerging adults.
Wellbeing Dogs Program
Sacred Heart College works in conjunction with Dogs Connect to facilitate our Wellbeing Dogs Program. Beau (Groodle) and Finbar (Border Collie) spend time across our campuses and the Boarding House. They fulfill an important role supporting wellbeing, by promoting emotional regulation, social connection and reduced stress.
Beau and Finbar spend time each day greeting students in the morning and connecting with students during break time. They spend a lot of time with our counsellors in the Wellbeing Area, supporting students with their emotional regulation. As the program expands, Beau and Finbar have been spending more time in the classroom to encourage positive behaviour, enhance relationships and reduce stress.
