💙 Today we celebrate and farewell the Class of 2026 with pride and gratitude for the contributions they have made to our Hearts Community, the friendships they have formed and the memories they will cherish as they step beyond the gates of Sacred Heart College and embrace the opportunities ahead.
To our Sacred Heart College community
This week is a particularly busy and significant time in the College calendar. As we farewell our Year 12 students from daily life at the College, our community has come together to celebrate the Class of 2026 through Graduation Mass, our new-format Farewell Breakfast followed by the final Year 12 Assembly, and the Year 12 Boarders’ Farewell Dinner.
These occasions provide an opportunity to reflect on the journey our students have shared, express our gratitude for the contributions they have made to the Hearts Community, and celebrate the friendships and memories they will carry with them. It is a time filled with pride, reflection and anticipation as our graduating students prepare to step beyond the gates of Sacred Heart and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
Once a Heart, always a Heart.
We also extend our congratulations to Mr James Grant, who was recognised for his Outstanding Contribution to Marist Education at the Marist Schools Australia (MSA) Mass and dinner in Melbourne. Across 25 years of dedicated service, James has made an exceptional contribution to the College through his teaching, leadership and commitment to the faith life of our community. His humility, generosity and deep commitment to Marist values make him a most deserving recipient of this recognition.

Farewell to the graduating Class of 2026
Today, we celebrated and farewelled our Year 12 students, as the Class of 2026 was acknowledged by their peers and staff on their final official day of schooling at Sacred Heart College. The Graduation Breakfast and Assembly offered a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their journey and celebrate this exceptional group of young people as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
The morning was filled with laughter, smiles and a few tears as students came together for one of their final gatherings as a cohort. We congratulate each Year 12 student on the many ways they have contributed to our Hearts community and thank them for the commitment and spirit they have brought to the College. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and look forward to celebrating their successes when results are released later in the year.
2026 Year 12 Awards
We also congratulate the students listed below who received prestigious awards at the 2026 Year 12 Graduation Assembly, generously supported by families, Old Collegians, benefactors and organisations. These honours are particularly meaningful to the College, and celebrate the strong and lasting connections we share with our past students, staff and their families.
Congratulations also to all students recognised with College Awards for their contributions to the Sacred Heart College community. Their achievements reflect the spirit of our Hearts Community and the Marist values that continue to guide and inspire us.

Celebrating faith, Family Spirit and the Class of 2026 at the Graduation Mass
The Class of 2026 and their families gathered on Tuesday night for the Year 12 Graduation Mass and an opportunity to celebrate our Family Spirit, one of the cornerstones of our Marist community. This was never more evident than during the Marist Heart Ceremony, where each graduate was invited to place their name inside our Marist Heart.
We extend our sincere thanks to Fr Michael Brennan and Fr Michael Kyumu for leading the celebration.
The Eucharistic celebration gives our graduating cohort the opportunity to reflect on their time here at Sacred Heart College, and eagerly await the next phase of their life. This was beautifully articulated by our 2026 Mission Captains, Callum and Josalie, in their address to the community:
“We know that when we hear the school bell ring for the final time, there will be mixed emotions of excitement and optimism alongside sadness for all that lies ahead and all that we must leave behind. But we both know you are all ready for what lies ahead; and that we will always be guided in faith and sent forward with hope, and remember… Courage triumphs!”

Year 12 Boarder’s Graduation Dinner
Last night, the Sacred Heart Boarding Community farewelled the Class of 2026 boarders at our Year 12 Boarding Graduation Dinner, held at Kooyonga Golf Club. We had a full house of family members and staff in attendance, including College Leadership and members of our Sacred Heart College Marist Brothers Community. It was a truly special evening for our boarders and their families.
We were also privileged to have old scholar and CEO of North Adelaide Football Club, Keenan Ramsey (SHOC ’14), as our guest speaker. Keenan shared his SHC journey as well as where life has taken him beyond his time at the College. One of his inspiring messages to the graduating cohort was to “surround yourself with people who are going to lift you up and if you do this, then you can achieve anything in life”.
The evening was heartfelt and memorable as we celebrated the achievements of the Year 12 cohort and farewelled several families who have been long-time members of our Boarding Community. Each graduating student was acknowledged with a brief summary of their plans for next year and beyond, followed by the presentation of their graduation certificate and a small gift from the Boarding Community.
Congratulations also to the students listed below who received special awards.
It was a fantastic celebration of community, growth, and achievement, all made possible by the tireless efforts of Sonia Kravinskis (PA to the Director of Boarding). Our sincere thanks to Sonia and all the Boarding Staff who helped make the evening such a success.
We wish our graduating cohort the very best for their upcoming exams and beyond, and sincerely thank our boarding families for the trust they place in us every day to care for their children. It has been our absolute privilege to share in this journey with our 2026 boarders.

Year 12 Dress-Up Day: “What did you want to be when you were 5?”
On Monday, our Year 12 students celebrated their final theme day at the College, dressed as what they wanted to be when they were 5 years old.
Led by our 2026 College Captains, Dihini Amaraweera and Leo Garcia, students understood their final assignment and came to school dressed as superheroes, doctors, princesses, footballers, lifesavers and vets – and even a few aspiring teachers. It was wonderful to see their childhood dreams brought to life with the day paving the way for nostalgic conversations and childhood ambitions.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026 for bringing so much enthusiasm and true Family Spirit to the day!
Solomon Islands Immersion 2026
Our Year 11 Immersion students recently embarked on an unforgettable immersion to the Solomon Islands, spending time with the Marist community at St Joseph’s School, Tenaru, and connecting with communities across the region.
Throughout their visit, students embraced the opportunity to experience daily life alongside their Solomon Islands buddies, attending classes, sharing meals, participating in sport and helping with school activities. They also supported the school community by assisting with daily chores, including gardening, preparing food and maintaining the school grounds.
A highlight was visiting a local village, where students were warmly welcomed by community members. They shared games and activities with local children and presented gifts books and sporting equipment. Visits to Mercy School and DIVIT Rural Training Centre provided further opportunities to connect, share experiences and celebrate the richness of each community’s culture.
Visiting Bishop Epalle Catholic School and Amoana Christian Academy were also key highlights for our staff and students and we are incredibly grateful to these communities for opening their doors and hearts to us.
Along with the experiences, the friendships formed made the immersion truly special for our students. From learning dances and sharing cultural celebrations to playing netball, volleyball and soccer, students discovered the joy of building connections across cultures. Their time together was filled with laughter, generosity and meaningful moments.
The Immersion was a wonderful expression of Marist values, particularly Presence and Family Spirit, as our students learned from their hosts, contributed to the communities they visited and returned home with lasting friendships and memories.
We look forward to farewelling our final three Immersion groups to India, Sri Lanka and the Philippines next month.
Hearts Harvest: Growing skills for life
From garden to plate, our students are growing their skills, confidence and independence through Hearts Harvest. Since the beginning of the year, this hands-on gardening program has provided students with meaningful opportunities to learn practical skills, explore sustainability and contribute to our Hearts Cafe cooking program.
Students began by researching herbs, fruits and vegetables suitable for growing, including radishes, strawberries, parsley and coriander. Through this research, they explored plant growth, growing conditions and the importance of healthy food, while developing their research, planning and decision-making skills.
Students then put their learning into practice by planting, watering and maintaining the garden. They are learning to take responsibility for living things, work collaboratively, solve problems and observe changes as their plants grow. These experiences provide valuable opportunities to build confidence, independence and a sense of achievement. To support sustainable gardening practices, a worm farm was also purchased to collect food scraps and produce nutrient rich fertiliser for the garden. Students are learning about composting, reducing waste and caring for the environment through practical, real world experiences.
A key focus of Hearts Harvest is using the fresh produce grown by students in the Hearts Cafe cooking program. This connection allows students to experience the journey from garden to plate, applying their learning to food preparation, hospitality and teamwork. It also helps them understand the value of planning, growing and preparing food for others.
Hearts Harvest is much more than a gardening program. It is helping students develop essential life skills, confidence and independence while making meaningful connections between their learning and the wider community. We look forward to watching our garden continue to flourish and seeing our students enjoy the rewards of their hard work in the Hearts Cafe and beyond.
Sandala Workshops with artist Sue Norman
Our Year 11 Religious Education classes were blessed to take part in sandala workshops with local artist Sue Norman last week.
Using geometric patterns arranged in a circle, students created their mandalas in the sand as a form of prayer and meditation.
Sue shared her passion for art and the beauty of self-discovery through the creation of mandalas, inspiring our students to do the same, taking time to breathe, reflect and express their emotions through their artwork. Sue praised the students for their respectful approach and willingness to engage in the experience.
We thank Sue for sharing her passion and guiding our students through this reflective and creative workshop, and we congratulate our students on their thoughtful and enthusiastic participation.
World Skills Regional Competition at Marcellin Technical College
Congratulations to Year 11 students, Oscar Baldwin and Archie Schubert, who achieved impressive results in the Electrotechnology category at the WorldSkills South Australian Regional Competition, held at Marcellin Technical College on 14 October.
Oscar achieved third place, taking home a bronze medal in recognition of the skills he has developed through his studies. Medallists were also rewarded with Total Tools gift vouchers, generously donated by Electro Careers & Apprenticeships.
Nominated by their trainer, Norman Waugh from Marcellin Technical College (MTC), the students demonstrated their practical electrotechnology skills and knowledge alongside students from other schools in a high-pressure, real-world environment.
Well done to Oscar and Archie for embracing this opportunity and proudly representing the Hearts Community!

Sacred Heart sets new Ekiden Relay record!
Last Thursday, students from Champagnat Campus travelled to Felixstow Reserve to compete in the annual School Sport SA Ekiden Relay. Sacred Heart College was proudly represented by two teams, with eight girls and eight boys from Years 7–9 taking on the challenging relay event.
The Ekiden Relay requires each of the eight runners to complete a different leg of the race, with the team collectively covering a distance of 20.6 kilometres. The event provides students with an opportunity to showcase their endurance, determination and commitment while working together as a team.
The Sacred Heart boys team produced an outstanding performance, winning the event from a field of 16 teams in an impressive time of 1 hour and 10 minutes. Their incredible performance also saw them set a new event record – a fantastic achievement for the College.
The girls team also performed exceptionally well, finishing in 6th place from 15 teams with a strong time of 1 hour and 29 minutes.
Congratulations to all 16 students who competed on the day! Their commitment, determination and support of one another was a wonderful reflection of the family spirit of Sacred Heart College. Well done to all students on an outstanding effort!
Celtic FC partnership extended for another 3 years
We are excited to announce that world-class soccer club, Celtic FC, has extended its partnership with Sacred Heart College for another three years.
Sacred Heart College is proud to be one of only a select few schools and colleges worldwide to hold Premium Partner status with Celtic FC, reflecting the strength and significance of this unique collaboration.
As we look ahead to 2027, we are excited to kick off another year of opportunities with the Celtic Player Experience in Glasgow Trials, taking place in Week 3 of Term 4 at Brighton Road Oval (Monday, 26 October at 2.00-3.00 pm and Wednesday, 28 October at 4.00-5.00 pm). Both sessions will be led by Sacred Heart College Head Coach and Adelaide United star Dylan Pierias.
Over the first three years of our partnership, we have established strong connections between the College and the Club, creating meaningful opportunities for male and female athletes across both Marcellin and Champagnat campuses. Our students have benefited from working alongside world-class coaches in Adelaide and Glasgow, participating in Player Experiences and training within Celtic FC’s U14, U15, U16 and U18 programs. These experiences have included access to the Club’s world-class facilities at Lennoxtown, Barrowfield and Celtic Park, as well as opportunities for players and staff to work with senior coaches and gain valuable insight into the men’s U18 and reserve teams, alongside the Women’s First Team.
Our partnership has also provided unique opportunities to engage with some of football’s most respected figures, including Brendan Rodgers and Rose Reilly, further enriching the experiences of our students and staff.
We are incredibly excited about the initiatives and opportunities that lie ahead as this world-class partnership continues to grow. We sincerely thank Celtic Football Club for its ongoing commitment, generosity and unwavering support, which embody the family spirit at the heart of this relationship.
Together, we look forward to an exciting future and continuing to create opportunities that inspire, challenge and develop the next generation of footballers.
